At Thornhill High School, part of the Gateway Education Group with over 35 years of academic excellence, our Ontario Ministry of Education-recognized programs prepare students for success in university, college, apprenticeships, or the workplace. Whether you choose online or in-person learning, your OSSD earned at Thornhill is equivalent to credits from any publicly funded Ontario secondary school.
Group 1: English, Social Sciences, First Nations Studies, Cooperative Education
Group 2: Health & PE, Arts, Business, French
Group 3: Science, Tech Ed, Computer Studies
Max 2 French credits (1 from Group 1 + 1 from Group 2/3).
Use up to 3 ESL/ELD credits toward English requirements.
Grade 12 English must be a standard compulsory course.
Start volunteering the summer before Grade 9.
Thornhill provides resources to find qualifying opportunities and track hours.
Required for students starting Grade 9 in 2020–21 or later.
Credits earned during COVID-19 remote learning (April–June 2021) count.
Available if you are:
18+ years old, or
16–17 and legally independent.
