  • Financial Literacy Requirement (Starting 2025: 70%+ in Grade 10 Math)

Compulsory Credit Groups

  • Group 1: English, Social Sciences, First Nations Studies, Cooperative Education

  • Group 2: Health & PE, Arts, Business, French

  • Group 3: Science, Tech Ed, Computer Studies

  • Max 2 French credits (1 from Group 1 + 1 from Group 2/3).

Flexibility for English Language Learners

  • Use up to 3 ESL/ELD credits toward English requirements.

  • Grade 12 English must be a standard compulsory course.

Community Involvement

  • Start volunteering the summer before Grade 9.

  • Thornhill provides resources to find qualifying opportunities and track hours.

Online Learning Credits

  • Required for students starting Grade 9 in 2020–21 or later.

  • Credits earned during COVID-19 remote learning (April–June 2021) count.

Available if you are:

  • 18+ years old, or

  • 16–17 and legally independent.
